November 05, 2015 – During the MARIOS (Materials and Reliability in Oil Sands) Workshop, Palliser was please to present our product range to both the Mining and SAGD industries.

The Palliser large bore couplers for erosive tailing/slurry applications in the mining industry was well received as participants recognized the advantages of Palliser Coupler where leading edge wear around conventional couplers is a problem.

The presentation of the Palliser Coupler© for severe service with its two independent seals along with the streamline bore was of particular interest to those operators involved in SAGD service.

30” Prototype Test

Posted by on Dec 13, 2013 in In The News | Comments Off on 30” Prototype Test

September 20, 2013 National Board Certified Inspector  today witnessed tested a 30” Palliser Coupler© designed to ANSI Class 300.  The coupler was positioned at center of a 50 feet test vessel.  The main purpose was to test the integrity of the metal to metal face to face seal.  The target test pressure was 1,125 psi. The vessel was filled with water with all air evacuated from the vessel.   Incrementally the pressure was increased to 1,125 psi with no loss of pressure or any leakage or weeping at the coupler.  Pressure was further increased to 1,600 psi again without any leakage. At this point the test was terminated due to the wall thickness capacity of the vessel test heads. The Advanced Way to Connect...

3” Prototype Test

Posted by on Dec 13, 2013 in In The News | Comments Off on 3” Prototype Test

March 22, 2013 From inception through to the final product the Palliser Couplers have undergone extensive computer modeling and rigorous mechanical testing.  Finite Element Analysis has been employed on every aspect of the couplers prior to putting a machining tool to metal. Initially a 3” prototype was produced based on the 30” design in order to confirm our sealing theory of a metal to metal face to face seal without a gasket or seal ring.  The results were witnessed by 2 National Board Certified Inspectors. The goal was to test to 3,700 psi., or 5 times the MAWP of ANSI Class 300 under B31.3.  The coupler exceeded the requirements and the test was halted at 10,000 psi (Cl. 600) due to the limits of the test fittings. The Inspectors stated “never seen anything like this in all my years”. The Advanced Way to Connect...
